- Recognize Best Practices and understand effective e-COBOL features

- Code, Compile, and Run Structured e-COBOL programs
- Utilize e-COBOL ‘soft abends’ vs. old COBOL dumps
- Understand the Region/Process/Enclave structure
- Multi-tasking; Multi-threading with e-COBOL
- Recognize e-COBOL as an OO language
- Utilize e-COBOL Built-In Functions
Audience
This course is designed for Application Programmers, Team Leaders, and Analysts that need to understand and to use the efficiencies of e-COBOL vs. older, less efficient COBOLs.
Pre-Requisites
To ensure a smooth learning experience and maximize the benefits of attending this course, you should have the following prerequisite skills:
- Prior programming experience with knowledge of the mainframe TSO/ISPF environment
Course Agenda
Throughout the course you’ll explore:
- e-COBOL vs. older COBOL syntax, structure and efficiencies
- (Local Storage vs. Working Storage vs. Dynamic Storage, etc.)
- e-COBOL internal sorts; when they are good, when they are not
- e-COBOL table (array) design, coding, indexes, subscripts, etc.
- e-COBOL features review; COBOL Classes, UNICODE, Java, XML, etc.
